Immersive Technologies extends advantage

15 March, 2006 - Perth Australia

EQUIPMENT Simulator technology leader, Immersive Technologies has underlined its leadership position with the launch of a global certification program for simulator trainers.

The unique certification program, TrainerAdvantage, gives mining industry training personnel an opportunity to gain globally recognised accreditation for their skills while providing mines with a way to assess trainer’s skills when recruiting.

Immersive Technologies has supplied more than 70 Advanced Equipment (AE) Simulators to leading mine operators in 16 countries around the world. Exclusive alliances with mining original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have enabled Immersive Technologies to produce authentic machine Conversion Kits® for more than 50 different machine types, and Immersive Technologies software has been used to replicate site surrounds at nearly 100 mine sites.

Immersive Technologies chief executive officer Peter Salfinger said TrainerAdvantagewill set the standard for a globally recognised certification program for simulator trainers.

“Trainers with this certification can be quickly identified as professionals in their field capable of delivering increased value to the companies they work for,” Mr Salfinger said.

“Simulator trainers can now carry a verifiable certification with them that proves they have the qualifications that mines will demand.”

“Companies with certified training staff stand to increase their bottom line profitability through the advantages of an efficiently run simulator program.”

Mr Salfinger said key components of the TrainerAdvantageprogram were based on the needs and feedback, of Immersive Technologies customers.

“Immersive Technologies has deployed a significant number of training simulators into mines around the world. This gives the TrainerAdvantage™ certification global recognition and real value to the holder,” he said.

Offering three certification levels, TrainerAdvantagestarts with class-room and hands-on sessions working with an AE Simulator under instruction from an Immersive Technologies specialist. A second level covers simulator set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting, while a third recognises trainers’ administrator operation competency.

Each level is designed to improve the trainer’s knowledge as he or she moves from basic to advanced operation. Trainer certification can occur either at a customer site or Immersive Technologies’ training facilities in Australia or the USA.

TrainerAdvantagecertificates and ID cards are awarded to recognise the holder’s level of certification.

“Mine and earthmoving fleet operators purchase AE Simulators to increase mine profitability with the help of more efficient and safety-conscious operators,” Mr Salfinger said.

“To do this, training staff must integrate the simulator into site training programs, operate the simulator to maximise skills transfer, and maintain maximum availability of the unit. TrainerAdvantagedelivers the training required, and improves staff knowledge, to achieve these outcomes.”

TrainerAdvantage is a trademark of Immersive Technologies.
