Immersive Technologies is the global leader in operator training solutions for the mining and earthmoving industries. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa this position will work directly in a training center to ensure that simulator based training is conducted according to plan.

We have an exciting role for a training professional to:
  • Conduct training for new and experienced operators
  • Use high fidelity simulation training tools
  • Manage the day to day operation of training schedules and plans

Reporting to the Training Manager and working closely with our regional team, your ability to conduct hands on training and assessment sessions will be crucial to your success. You will possess experience in mining equipment operation, specifically training equipment operators to be safe, productive and to care for their machines.

This role requires the flexibility to travel daily to the training center near Johannesburg for full time day shift operation of a training program. Your proven ability to teach adults to retain skills and apply them to a job to maximize mining outcomes and to keep training projects on scheduled is a must.

To be considered for this role you must have:
  • 5+ years previous experience as an mining equipment operator across multiple machine groups
  • 3-5 years experience in Mining Operational Training
  • Registered Assessor with relevant SETA
  • Facilitator (Completed Facilitators Course)
  • A strong understanding of mining best practices
  • Effective communication skills
  • Dedication to safe working practices

Based in Johannesburg South Africa, this position will work directly with our mining customer base ensure that our training products and services derive maximum value for the customer.

We have an exciting role for a training professional to:
  • Conduct training needs assessments from mine data
  • Tailor training curriculum to the customer needs
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives to ensure productivity, maintenance and safety gains are realized on site

Working closely with our regional team, your ability to lead project teams and whilst developing site training departments will be crucial to your success. You will possess a degree or 5 years job experience in a field such as training and development, continuous improvement, or a closely related field. Being bilingual French / English is preferred.

This role requires the flexibility to regularly travel to customer sites domestically and sometimes internationally and would suit an individual who has proven ability to manage and develop practical project plans that maximize outcomes with the efficient use of resources. The travel requirement for this position is 60% but can occasionally be more.

Immersive Technologies is the global leader in mining simulation and has been for 23 years. In our African region (Headquartered in Johannesburg) we are the dominant and most trusted supplier of simulation to major mining companies.

Globally we now have customers in 40 countries and are proud that our solutions are being used by customers to drive measurable business improvement results. We have never been more relevant than today!

We have recently invested heavily into an expanded Underground Simulator range (Soft & Hard Rock) and we seek an experienced and well connected sales professional to take forward these new capabilities to existing and new customers, primarily to the SADC region.

The Role:
  • Identify new opportunities and align our solutions to meet customer needs and priorities with Immersive Technologies products and services.
  • Reporting to the Regional Vice President, you will be a key member of the sales team, playing a critical role in generating new revenue opportunities to meet personal sales targets, in line with the region’s business development strategy.
The Person:
  • You will have a proven track record in a Senior Business Development / Sales role selling solutions to mining companies, Underground experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • You will also have outstanding levels of initiative, self-motivation and energy with strong written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • You will effectively be able to give customers’ a unique perspective, teaching them new insights on how our company’s products and services will improve their business.
  • You will be able to develop and maintain relationships with all customer stakeholders from the executive level to all levels of management and be skilled in the application of strategic and consultative selling.
  • You are disciplined and efficient at developing effective sales / business plans supported by flawless execution.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Prospecting for new business by identifying and researching key customer segments and working with the RVP to plan an engagement strategy.
  • Generate and qualify leads from new and existing accounts, to build a high conversion rate pipeline to meet regional targets.
  • Defining customer needs and aligning our solutions with senior and middle management customer staff (Head Office and Senior Mine Site Management).
  • Managing and closing new business for medium and high fidelity simulation products and services, including managed training services.
  • Develop a sound level of expertise in the application of Immersive Technologies’ product lines in the course of understanding and solving customers’ problems and needs.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of all closed opportunities from Business Development to ensure commitments are delivered as promised.
  • Ensure strategic goals developed for this region are supported and implemented.
Core Experience Requirements:
  • General understanding and appreciation for contemporary issues surrounding underground mining in today’s economic climate as well as key business drivers.
  • Understanding of modern underground mining methodology.
  • Proven track record in sales performance preferably with high value capital sales.
  • Ability to construct, document and articulate a meaningful strategic & tactical business case in proving ROI of our value proposition to customers.
  • Ability to construct and deliver clear and informative presentations.
  • Understand and provide evidence of a consultative approach to sales development with multiple key influencers.
  • Tertiary qualification is required, ideally in a technical discipline.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also required.
  • Minimum of 5 years appropriate sales experience with consistent record of over-achievement against quota.

Ideally the successful candidate will have underground mining experience. Services and/or Capital Sales experience is essential. Knowledge of simulation is not required. We offer a competitive salary package consisting of base salary, uncapped and hyper commissions plus super. Travel is an important part of this role.
